Mobile Bay

Our view during our dinner on Mobile Bay. We ate at a place called Bimini Bob’s that I highly recommend to anyone who comes to this area. It’s actually in Daphne. The place had a large outdoor deck that overlooked Mobile and the bay. We watched the sun set over dinner while watching the alligators in the bay and listening to the great live music they had at the restaurant.

Before dinner we walked “gator alley boardwalk” which crossed a creek near the restaurant. We saw one gator swimming and another on the banks of the creek on a sandbar. Very cool!

Our last day

Since the guys went off to go golfing, us girls went to the beach. My mom and I rode our bikes to the beach which is only a mile or so from the access point. At the bea h we met up with Aunt Fay and Aunt Linda and our cousins. The morning was cool, overcast, and wi ndy. It was a great morning for the beach. Tonight we are planning to go to the Salty Dog for dinner.

Pottery

During the rain on Thursday, mike and I went to this place where you can paint your own pottery. Then they fire and glaze it and to can pick it up later. We painted a silverware holder which we plan to use when we have guests over.

Kayaking

This morning we went kayaking for a couple of hours. It raines on us most of the time. We saw lightening once so we turned around to go back but never saw it again so we just went the other direction. We did see dolphins and a crab hitched a ride on mikes kayak the whole time so I grabbed him afterwards and he crawled up my arm.

Savannah GA

Yesterday we went to Savannah and did a historical walking tour. The weather was very nice- very humid but overcast and breezy so the temps in the upper 80s weren’t too bad. We got lucky and as we got in the car to leave it started pouring. We did get to see all the stops we wanted to and had lunch in market square. We also saw the most haunted house in America, “supposedely.”

Pensacola,FL

Tonight we spent the 4th of July in Pensacola. We stayed at the Crown Point in downtown. The lobby is the old historic L&N train depot. We watched a really good fireworks show over the bay. They had a whole celebration with venders and music. We got to listen to Junior Brown from Austin. Ran into some Aggies in the Navy Class of 08. Was kinda cool to talk to them.

Baby wrens

So this past weekend our baby wrens left their nest. There were three. The first one fell out and clung to the window screen and just kept hopping up and down it. Finally he let go and hopped onto the table. We are going to miss them!

Now that they are gone we have ripped down the porch so we can have the house painted.

Weekend

Was a nice weekend. Did some work in my flower beds on saturday morning. Found a snake. We tried to take it to the park to release it but it escaped so I guess it is back in the garden getting ready to scare me again.

Went to a dinner and wine tasting at luke and pams. Pam fixed some really yummy meat. Was good to visit with everyone.

Mike and I went to dinner with our life group Sunday night at willies ice house.

Daingerfield

Just got back from a weekend in Daingerfield visiting with Mikes family. Went shooting and fishing and played some frisbee. Mike caught a big bass. Went antiquing on the way back. Was a nice weekend except for getting hit in the face with a football.

Harvest time

So last night we harvest and cooked 3 squash. They were very yummy. One was a bit overripe so I will remember to pick a bit earlier next time. The other two were perfect.
